All’s fair in love and “Big Brother,” but season 28 alum Kamu Kirk thinks one of his former allies lied and schemed more than she needed to.
Kamu, 32, became the sixth person voted off of “Big Brother 28” during the Thursday, Aug. 20, episode. Kamu’s eviction came after his former ally Rick Devens used a secret Diamond Veto power to take Dee Valladares off the block and name Kamu as the replacement nominee.
Kamu began working with Dee and Devens early in the game. Their Red Corner alliance blew up during week 4 when Dee and Devens conspired to flip the vote to eliminate Lyric Medeiros, blindsiding Kamu, Haley Thogmartin and Chuk Anyanwu in the process. Some viewers felt it was unnecessary for Dee and Devens to burn their loyal Red Corner allies so early in the game, and Kamu agrees.
“Even now, I’m still not entirely sure why they decided to do that,” he told NJ.com after his elimination. “They had said that keeping Lyric was better for my game and Haley and Chuk’s and not theirs, but I don’t know if that’s necessarily true. I think Lyric wanted to work with our entire alliance.”
Although Kamu admits that Dee is in “a very good position” as the current Head of Household, he has some issues with her gameplay.
“I think she lies unnecessarily at times. And I do think that that’s gonna be something that ends up catching up to her,” he said. “If Devens didn’t play his power when he did, I don’t think Dee would be in the game anymore. And that’s because of her lying unnecessarily and her willingness to just cut people from her alliance so quickly.”
While campaigning for votes to stay, Kamu told his fellow players that he would go after the season’s reality TV icons — “Survivor” alums Dee and Devens and “Big Brother 26” alum Angela Murray. He thinks players like Melody Morris and Mallory Aurichio made a “mistake” by joining forces with the icons in the Mosh Pit alliance.
“That’s a really irresponsible move for Melody and Mallory to make as the last two people being part of this alliance,” Kamu argued, noting that fellow Mosh Pit members Barrett Pfeiffer and Drew Campbell have been working with the icons since week one.
