No need to flip a coin to determine if Survivor star Rick Devens will appear on another CBS reality show, because it is already happening.

Entertainment Weekly can exclusively report that the Survivor 50 fan favorite has moved from the island to the Big Brother house, and will compete in season 28 of the reality competition show, which premieres July 9 on CBS.

And Devens is not the only former Survivor competitor that will be part of the new cast, as EW has learned that a second former castaway will also be vying for Big Brother’s $750,000 prize. The identity of that second player has yet to be revealed.

While neither CBS nor producers will confirm the participation of any Survivor competitors on the new season, sources close to the situation tell EW that the two former island-dwellers are indeed part of the cast, which was announced earlier Tuesday and also includes RuPaul’s Drag Race star Salina EsTitties, appearing here under offstage name Jason De Puy.

Devens first came to reality TV prominence on the Survivor: Edge of Extinction season in 2019. After being voted our fourth on day 11, he could have become a mere footnote, but that season’s twist allowed the then TV newscaster to win himself back into the game — where he gained fame by winning challenges, finding idols, and broadcasting his trademark breaking news reports. His run finally ended in fourth place when he lost a fire-making competition to eventual winner Chris Underwood.

Devens almost did not make it back for Survivor 50. He began the process as an alternate, but when the cast ballooned to 24 people, he was added to the mix, and proceeded to become arguably the biggest star of the season.

Not only did Devens hilariously hide and then retrieve a fake idol from Tribal Council, but he also famously risked immediate elimination by volunteering to flip the MrBeast coin that gave him immunity at two different Tribal Councils, while also doubling the prize money to $2 million (eventually won by Aubry Bracco). A huge threat to win due to all his theatrics, he was finally voted out in seventh place.

Now, Devens and his mystery fellow island transplant become the second and third Survivor players to later appear on Big Brother, following in the footsteps of Devens’ Survivor 50 castmate Cirie Fields, who competed alongside her son Jared on season 25, where she placed fifth and had to endure Felicia cutting toenails on her bed.

The cross-pollination between the two shows has also included two Big Brother contestants who later competed on Survivor. Big Brother 12 winner Hayden Moss was on Survivor: Blood vs. Water and made it all the way to sixth place, while Big Brother 16’s Caleb “Beast Mode Cowboy” Reynolds appeared on two Survivor seasons: Kaoh Rong and Game Changers.

Continuing the connection, Survivor 42’s Zach Wurtenberger watched his brother Cory on Big Brother 25, while back-to-back Survivor finalist Russell Hantz saw his brother Willie get expelled from the season 14 house after charging and pushing Joe Arvin.

It’s highly unlikely the genial Rick Devens or second mystery Survivor will cause any sort of physical chaos inside the Big Brother house. When it comes to chaotic gameplay, however, strap in for what is sure to be a wild ride.
