BIG Brother’s new season is going to mess with time, and its own history, in the show’s most explosive twist yet.
The U.S. Sun can reveal that Season 28 of Big Brother will be the biggest and longest in the show’s 26-year history, with more than 51 hours of content set to air across its supersized summer run.
The latest season premieres on Thursday, July 9 and will stretch all the way through October 1 – weeks longer than recent installments.
CBS has already confirmed it will be the most programming hours ever for the franchise, with expanded 90-minute episodes and the return of Big Brother: Unlocked.
But according to an insider, producers are planning to go far beyond just a longer schedule.
“The contestants will be competing against returning players, the most legendary in the show’s history, for first-of-its-kind twists,” the source revealed.

Exactly who is coming back remains under wraps, but the source teased some fan-favorites will be making appearances.
Other “surprise twists and turns” will introduce a first-of-its-kind shakeup to the gameplay format.
And producers are saving their biggest swing for episode 1,000.
The landmark installment will air midseason and is expected to be “longer than normal,” according to the insider.
The 1,000th episode will also include never-before-seen twists and a major celebration of the show’s legacy.
That celebration will include surprise appearances from former houseguests as CBS leans heavily into nostalgia, the source said.
Season 28’s official theme, Big Brother: Time Trip, will send houseguests spiraling through the past, present and future in what CBS has teased as a season of “endless possibilities.”
The network’s first-look photos reveal a house unlike anything fans have seen before in a chaotic mash-up of eras.
The entryway appears warped in time with oversized clocks and fractured timelines, while the living room mixes gothic architecture with vintage relics.
Bedrooms are split between futuristic sleep pods and artifact-filled chambers, while the hallway is packed with strange inventions, old-world oddities and sci-fi gadgets.
At the center of it all sits a towering clock structure – a nod that time itself may be the biggest player this summer.
Host Julie Chen Moonves will once again guide viewers through the chaos as the long-running competition becomes the first primetime reality series to hit 1,000 original episodes.
The beloved host has been at the helm of every episode – a massive milestone for a franchise that first launched back in 2000.
Big Brother 28 premieres with a 90 minute episode on Thursday, July 9th on CBS and will air the following day on Paramount+.
The show will air regular episodes on Sundays, Wednesday, and Thursdays – with the latter hosting the highly anticipated weekly live eviction specials.
Big Brother: Unlocked, gives viewers more of a behind-the-scenes glimpse with episodes airing on Fridays.
