Summer is typically a quiet period in the “Survivor” world.

The most recent season has finished airing on TV and the filming for the upcoming seasons have wrapped in Fiji.

“Survivor” episodes aren’t typically on your TV screens in summer prime time with the exception of when the franchise launched in summer 2000.

But after the landmark Survivor 50 in the spring, CBS is re-airing all of the episodes from that historic season the rest of the summer.

The season, titled “Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans,” saw the return of 24 legendary and fan favorite players across the 25-year history that involved fans voting on various components of the game.

“Survivor” veteran Aubry Bracco won season 50 in her fourth attempt at playing and claimed the $2 million prize.

Is Survivor on tonight?

Yes, “Survivor” is on tonight but it’s not time for season 51 just yet.

It’s part of the season 50 rewatch.

“Survivor” airs its second episode from season 50 on Tuesday, July 21. The 90-minute episode of season 50 was titled “Therapy Carousel.” Survivor 49 winner Savannah Louie was voted out.

The three-hour premiere aired on Monday, July 20, when Jenna Lewis-Dougherty was voted out and Kyle Lewis had to be medically evacuated.

CBS will broadcast Survivor 50 episodes each week, sometimes multiple in one week, leading up to the premiere of season 51 in late September.

Why is Survivor on tonight?

CBS is calling the Survivor 50 episodes a “special summer rewatch event to honor the landmark 50th season.”

After the season was promoted for years and was arguably the most hyped season, it’s likely just a way to get the season back in front of viewers who might have missed any episodes during what’s a quiet time in TV programming.

It also can’t hurt to cross promote two of the players on that season, Rick Devens and Dee Valladares, who are now competing on CBS’ other marquee reality TV competition show, “Big Brother,” this summer.

Survivor 50 finale date

The Survivor 50 season finale date aired May 20.

It started with the final five of Aubry Bracco, Jonathan Young, Joe Hunter, Rizo Velovic and Tiffany Ervin and ended with Bracco being crowned the Sole Survivor. The reveal took place in front of a live audience, a result from a fan vote a year prior. From season 41-49, the winner had been revealed on location in Fiji at the end of the final tribal council.

The finale also had a Jeff Probst blunder in which he inadvertently revealed the results of the final four fire making challenge before it aired on TV, a spoiler that shocked the audience and social media.

Also, Cirie Fields was voted as the Sia Fan Favorite and received $100,000 that went with the award.

Who won Survivor 50?

Aubry Bracco won season 50, the title of Sole Survivor and the $2 million prize. It was only the second time in the franchise’s history that “Survivor” awarded the winner with $2 million. The other was another milestone season, in season 40, which featured 20 past winners.

Bracco played under the radar in season 50 while using a strong social game before winning the final four immunity challenge to seal her victory.

She won by an 8-3-0 vote over Jonathan Young and Joe Hunter.

Dee on Survivor and Big Brother

Could Dee Valladares be the first person to win “Survivor” and “Big Brother”?

The 29-year-old from Miami is giving it a go.

The Survivor 45 winner and Survivor 50 castaway is playing “Big Brother” this summer. And she’s off to a good start. She won the first Head of Household competition and is in the majority alliance.

The winner of “Big Brother” wins $750,000.

Devens on Big Brother

Valladares has company in the house.

Rick Devens, who also starred on “Survivor” season 50 and appeared on season 38, has also gone from Fiji to the BB house. He’s working alongside Valladares in multiple alliances and is having a blast doing it with his Rick Devens-chaotic style.

Devens followed up Valladares’ first HOH with a win of his own.

Yes, the two “Survivor” alums have the power in the house in consecutive weeks to start the season. The two Survivor castaways aren’t the only “Survivor” stars to make a “Big Brother” appearance this season. “Survivor” host Jeff Probst appeared in the BB premiere on July 12 for a cameo.

Where to watch Big Brother

Like “Survivor,” “Big Brother” airs on CBS and streams on Paramount+.

Episodes are Sundays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Sundays air from 7 to 8 p.m., Wednesdays 7 to 8:30 p.m. and Thursdays 7 to 8 p.m.

Live feeds are also available to watch Valladares’, Devens’ and all the houseguests’ every move.
